Montgomery Athletic Training Room Policies

Athletic Training Room Hours of Operation:
Regular School day: 2:00pm- closing 30 minutes after the last practice ends
Holiday/Weekends: 45 minutes prior to the start of the first practice- closing 30 minutes after the last practice/game is over
 
 
 
Rules:
  1. Athletes that need treatment should arrive in the athletic training room at least ½ hour prior to practice/game, unless otherwise advised by the Athletic Trainer.

 

  1. Athletes will be seen in the following order:
    1. Athletes with an emergency
    2. Athletes needing the shuttle buses to other sites
    3. Athletes with an away game
    4. Athletes with a home game
    5. Athletes with practices will be seen on a first come, first served basis
    6. Athletes requiring an evaluation will be seen after all other taping has been completed

 

 

  1. Athletes may come in for treatment during free periods, lunch, or physical education period (if the injury prohibits participation).  An appointment MUST be made with the Athletic Trainer prior to coming in.

 

  1. Only the Athletic Trainer may provide an evaluation/treatment.  Coaches and athletes may not treat themselves.

 

  1. NO CLEATS OR OTHER EQUIPMENT ARE TO BE WORN IN THE ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM.  THIS INCLUDES DIRTY CLOTHES.

 

  1. ATHLETES SHOULD NOT BRING THEIR BOOK, BAGS, OR EQUIPMENT INTO THE ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM.

 

  1. NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THE ATHLETIC TRAINING ROOM.

 

  1. No athlete may be allowed in the Athletic Training Room without direct adult supervision.

 

  1. DOCTOR NOTES:  If an athlete is seen by a physician for an injury or illness, they MUST be medically cleared, in writing, before they will be allowed to return to practice or game situations.  Clearance notes are to be presented to the athletic trainer for sports and the school nurse for physical education.  If you know that an athlete is going or has gone to a doctor, please let the athletic trainer AND school nurse know to avoid confusion.  This is a legal matter and therefore is not negotiable.

 

  1. Safety Issues:

a.       NO jewelry is to be worn during practices or games.  This includes body piercings.

b.      All safety equipment (i.e. mouth guards, shin guards, helmets, gloves, eyewear, protective paddings, etc.) must be worn for all practices and games.

c.       Proper footwear and appropriate clothing must be worn at all times.
